Menachem Finkelstein’s “Enlightened” Justice

Israel, Law, Useful Idiots · By

Officer Shahar Mizrachi is the latest victim of the leftist assault on Israel via the court system. Officer Mizrachi is a hero. He should have been awarded a medal for stopping a violent car thief. Instead, a politicized court and a politicized judge are sending him to prison for 15 months. There he will sit among the common criminals, including perhaps some he himself apprehended. They will make his life a living hell.

Mizrachi’s crime?  He did his job!

In July 2006, Officer Mizrachi saw a car thief stealing a car in Pardes Hana. It turns out though that the thief was an Arab from nearby Baqa al-Garbiya, one Mahmoud Ganaim. Officer Mizrachi shot the thief, who died from the wound. The thief, Ganaim, tried to stab Mizrachi with a screwdriver before the cop shot him.

But in post-survivalist Israel the court system seems to believe that Arabs should not be expected to obey the law and Jews should never be permitted to stop them from committing crimes. You may recall the farmer from the Negev, Shai Dromi, who shot at three Bedouin thieves trying to steal his sheep and killed one. He was harassed and indicted by the Attorney General and convicted of manslaughter, although recently cleared on appeal.

Israel’s Attorney General has for decades been a leftist partisan biased judicial activist. Read more >

Neturei Karta, A Law Onto Themselves

Time to Extend Israeli Law to Meah Shearim.

A woman is caught on tape detaching the feeding tube from her starving three-year old in Hadassah Hospital, after years of bringing the child in with unexplained medical conditions and bodily injuries. She is arrested by authorities for child endangerment and jailed. In response, her community backs her up, burns property and assaults police and social workers.

This story makes no sense until you add that the woman is haredi, a member of Neturei Karta sect in Jerusalem’s Meah Shearim.

As citizens of Israel look on in astonishment today as the streets of its capital are set on fire and innocent passersby are subject to a pogrom of stones and curses, we long-time inhabitants of Jerusalem are not surprised.

For years, police and government authorities have treated Meah Shearim, the hotbed of virulent haredi anti-Israel provocations, as the French have treated the Arab suburbs of Paris, the banlieues: as a separate country, afraid to engage with its inhabitants, to enforce the laws of the nation.

It is a no-go zone, where citizens take the law into their hands, and inhabitants are subject to mob rule.

I saw this personally when I was writing my play Women’s Minyan, which was based on the following true story: A haredi woman in Meah Shearim, mother of 12, found out her sexually abusive husband was having an affair with a married woman. When she finally stopped covering for him, and demanded he move out and give her a divorce, she found herself not only thrown out of the house, but attacked by armed haredi thugs who arrived at her doorstep. Ex-Justice Barak Dislikes Democracy and Jews

aharon_barak

For years I have been claiming in postings, blog entries and articles that the ex-Chief Justice of Israel, Aharon Barak (not related to Ehud) is an anti-democratic anti-Israel leftist extremist moonbat. Barak was the leading proponent in Israel of the anti-democratic doctrine of “judicial activism,” which should be called judicial tyranny, under which non-elected judges make up laws and dictate governmental policy about just about everything. Barak also insisted that anyone who happens to sit on the Israeli Supreme Court should issue rulings based on “enlightened opinion,” which means whatever Aharon Barak personally thinks in any given week, and that those same sitting judges should perpetually select other judges by themselves to sit on the Supreme Court and other courts, regardless of what the Israeli voter wants.

When I would slap around Barak in my postings, many people objected that I was showing disrespect to Israel’s Chief Justice, and was exaggerating his anti-democratic tendencies. Last week Barak had the kindness to step forward and prove that I was correct, and in fact showed I was underestimating his political biases and dislike for democracy. Read more >

Th Rain In Spain Falls Mainly On the Slain

Spain has been fighting against Basque separatist terrorism for decades and especially against the “ETA” organization, which seeks secession of the Basque territories from Spain. ETA is considered responsible for the deaths of more than 800 people in Spain, a number that pales in comparison with Palestinian barbarism. (And Spain has a population almost six times that of Israel.)

Spain’s anti-terror campaign made a mockery out of any concern for human rights. Collateral damage and injury to innocent bystanders were regular and common features of the campaign. Anti-terror paramilitary fighters and forces routinely engaged in torture of captured terrorists. Numerous death squads sought out the terrorists and their supporters, quietly exterminating them behind the scenes. The government pretended to have no knowledge of their actions. Government anti-terror personnel kidnapped terrorists and held them without any regard for habeas corpus. Anti-terror militias routinely crossed the borders and snatched terrorists hiding in neighboring countries or killed them there. Bombs were planted in order to kill the terrorists. Many of those killed or tortured were in reality not even members of or connected with any terrorist groups. Many of the anti-terror operations took place in violation of international law and even of national laws. To suppress the terror, the government threatened and pressured other countries to crack down on the refugees and to deport them. Read more >

Bayefsky’s Dress Down of Durban II Thugs and Antisemites in Geneva, Switzerland

Those of you who hold that things tend to balance out over time, take heart! Canada, the country that gave us Louise Arbour, the incompetent former High Commissioner for Human Rights, moderator of the Durban I hate fest and future CEO of the International Crisis Group, has also produced Anne Bayefsky. Here, via Naomi Ragen, is Bayefsky’s dress down of the Durban II gathering of anti-Semites, thugs and gangster.

STATEMENT BY ANNE BAYEFSKY AT THE THIRD SUBSTANTIVE PREPARATORY MEETING OF THE DURBAN REVIEW CONFERENCE

April 17, 2009

United Nations, Palais des Nations, GENEVA, Switzerland

The eyes of millions of victims of racism, xenophobia and intolerance are upon YOU, the representatives of states and the United Nations. And instead of hope you have given them despair. Instead of truth you have handed them diplomatic double-talk. Instead of combating antisemitism you have handed them a reason for Jews to fear UN-driven hatemongering on a global scale. Read more >

Olmert, Go Home!

The long list of scandals involving Prime Minister Ehud Olmert (Kadima), keeps growing. Thus far he is facing charges of bribery, money laundering, fraud, breach of trust and more. On the weekend, Israelis enjoyed the spectacle of Tel-Tzur, one of Olmert’s lawyers, pressing American businessman Morris Talansky to admit that he, Talansky, issued instructions for the bank to transfer $160,000 to the Prime Minister. Essentially, the lawyer was arguing that the Prime Minister did not steal the money. It must have been just a regular bribe! They have no shame. Read more >

Toronto Criminals Have Guns

Steyr Attack GunToronto, Canada’s largest city, has been governed by hard core leftists since David Miller was elected Mayor in 2003. During that period, incidents of street violence have risen dramatically, even as City Council passes ever more restrictive gun laws. Liberals are oblivious to correlations – psychologists call it cognitive dissonance – and respond to policy failure with increased fervor. The operative word for Liberals is “more.” Read more >

Haaretz Discovers Good Lynching

Lynching AbstractAH, Haaretz, the Palestinian newspaper printed in Hebrew, the daily whose idea of “pluralism” is based on Brezhnev’s Pravda, the newspaper in which Israel (and America) are always wrong and the Islamofascists are always right, the newspaper of Post-Zionism and Post-Judaism, where Israeli survival is an archaic idea whose time has past.

Haaretz, or Al-Ard in Arabic, has for many years adopted the quaint custom of anti-Semitic newspapers elsewhere in referring to suicide bombers and mass murderers of Jews as “activists” and “militants.” Yet suddenly, this week the “T” word appears on Haaretz’ front page. “T” as in terrorist.

How come? Well, the news story concerns Eden Natan-Zada, a mentally ill Israeli soldier (actually a deserter) who shot up Shfaram in October 2005 and killed several Druse and Arabs. Shfaram is about 40 minutes outside Haifa. He was then attacked by locals in the crowd who lynched him, killing him. Read more >

Nazi Habits Live On

Antisemitism, Germany, Islamism, Law · By

Germans never placed high value on Jewish life, so this story is not surprising. Judge Klaus Drescher, whose ancestors just two generations removed killed six million Jews, sentenced an Islamist to three and a half years in jail for stabbing one Jew. With time off for good behavior Sajed Aziz will probably be out in less than two years. Other than a seven centimeter stab wound to Rabbi Zalman Gurevitch’s lower abdomen, the Judge found no evidence that the Muslim attacker intended to kill the Jew. The Nazi descendant Judge concluded that calling a Rabbi ‘dirty Jew’ does not make the Islamist a bad person.

An Israeli friend sent us the link asking “If Israel does not protect Jews why should Germany?”

German Jewish leaders were “disturbed” and “disappointed” on Tuesday at the “very mild” sentence meted out to a young Muslim man in Frankfurt who was convicted of stabbing a local rabbi.

Sajed Aziz, 23, was sentenced on Tuesday to three and a half years in prison for stabbing Rabbi Zalman Gurevitch, 43, last September. According to Gurevitch, Aziz shouted anti-Semitic slurs at him before plunging a nearly seven-centimeter blade into the rabbi’s lower abdomen.

Aziz claimed the attack was an act of self-defense after Gurevitch allegedly grabbed him by the collar.

Judge Klaus Drescher said there was not enough evidence to support the original charge of attempted manslaughter, finding Aziz guilty instead of serious bodily injury. The court said testimony did not show that Aziz intended to kill the man, though Drescher noted that he clearly called Gurevitch a “Jewish pig.”

“I think the court missed an opportunity to send a signal that it won’t tolerate violence against another religion,” said Prof. Salomon Korn, head of the Frankfurt Jewish community. “This sentence was very mild, and it did not send a clear message toward other Muslim and non-Muslim youth who might do the same.”

Stephan Kramer, secretary-general of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, agreed. “It’s very disappointing and disturbing that the judges viewed the attack less severely than they could have. It’s absurd that they didn’t charge him for murder,” said Kramer.

According to Kramer, the sentence may reflect German authorities’ desire “to calm the situation so that the world doesn’t see people on the streets of Germany attacking Jews. It’s a very bad signal towards certain very violent anti-Semitic people we have in Germany.”

Phyllis Chesler Interviews Lionheart, Blogger in Hiding

Phyllis Chesler interviewed Lionheart the Blogger pursued by British authorities for writing about the Islamization of Luton, his home town. Lionheart’s plight is not unique and will become even less so in a few short years. As Mark Steyn says, the Islamists are the true Globalists. They really do think globally and act locally, everywhere. They expand faster than Starbucks and serve up a particularly wicked brew. A franchise is coming to a neighborhood near you.

Here are some highlights from the interview, but you should read the entire post, A Profile In Courage, on the Chesler Chronicles Blog.

P: How refreshing that you understand that Jew-hatred or anti-semitism is a form of racism! What do YOU see is at stake here?

L: My liberty, my life, my freedom to tell the truth about what has happened to me personally and what is happening to my community, my country and to the civilized world in relation to Islam’s Holy War against the West. Beyond that, our whole civilization is at stake, the Islamic World is calling for the annihilation of the Jewish race and the total destruction of the Western World.
