Congressman Jack Murtha died last week, leaving America a better place. There, we said it! No squeamish preemptive apologetics. The Democrat from Pennsylvania, chairman of  the House defense appropriation subcommittee, was a power-hungry megalomaniac. Nancy Pelosi will miss him.

Avatar is the kind of movie you get when you liberate a bunch of crazed Hollywood lefties from all financial constraints. With a $240 million budget, James Cameron managed to squeeze  every last Marxist fantasy into three hours of boring propaganda.

With the plot conveniently available on the Internet and no first rank stars, the balk of the money went into producing the special effects, with very impressive results. Not impressive enough, however, to offset the endless flow of anti-American, anti-capitalist, global warming claptrap.

The plot goes something like this. Capitalism, global warming and war destroy earth. Capitalists, aided by the Military, try to do the same to the beautiful, breath-taking planet Pandora. They are after – wait for it – unobtainium, because it sells for $20 million dollars a kilogram on the open market- about the same as a Hollywood star. Israeli Soldiers On Guard Against Islamist Terrorists in Gaza

A wide range of Israelis, from Ehud Olmert’s communist wife to terror enabling Professor Neve Gordon, would see this as a cost cutting opportunity. It would eliminate the need to issue guns and ammunition to soldiers. For practice, troops would play hide and seek.

You can’t make this stuff up. In 2008, an Israeli court ruled that IDF soldiers should hide rather than fight when approached by the enemy. The court feared that a violent response by soldiers may increase the risk of bodily harm befalling unsuspecting terrorists. On Thursday, the Supreme Court overruled the lower court’s decision. Two Jewish justices voted for fighting. An Arab justice voted in favor of hiding.

In a eulogy of his recently departed father Douglas Bloomfield demonstrates the insanity of Liberals. Of all things, he uses the article to attack Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. To understand how strange this is ask yourself whether you would use a eulogy of your dad to attack Barack Hussein Obama?

Mr. Bloomfield ascribes to his father his own prejudices. Way to go, Doug. The 65% of Americans who are Conservative will forever believe that your father was at best uninformed. For all we know, Dad was probably a nice man. Why would you defame him?

To say that Limbaugh has an agenda of fear and hate with no ideas or policy is simply ignorant. To say that Glenn Beck engages in race-bating is criminal, even if the cause is stupidity rather than malice. Doug, don’t read about it in the NYT. Listen to Rush and Glen and you’ll be surprised. Environment minister Jairam Ramesh asserted on Sunday in the presence of visiting US secretary of state Hillary Clinton that India would never take legally binding commitments to cut down on emissions.

“India’s position is clear and categorical that we are simply not in a position to take any legally binding emissions reductions,” Ramesh said at conference on climate change he addressed along with the visiting secretary of state to mark the opening of ITC’s Green Centre building in Gurgaon.

His remarks came against the backdrop of growing pressure on India and China from the US-led bloc of developed countries to take quantifiable targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh alluded to the growing US insistence that India relent on its stand not to accept targets.

Ramesh drew the red lines clearly. “There is simply no case for the pressure that we, who have been among the lowest emitters per capita, face to reduce emissions. And as if this pressure was not enough, we also face the threat of carbon tariffs on our exports to countries such as yours.”

For years I have been claiming in postings, blog entries and articles that the ex-Chief Justice of Israel, Aharon Barak (not related to Ehud) is an anti-democratic anti-Israel leftist extremist moonbat. Barak was the leading proponent in Israel of the anti-democratic doctrine of “judicial activism,” which should be called judicial tyranny, under which non-elected judges make up laws and dictate governmental policy about just about everything. Barak also insisted that anyone who happens to sit on the Israeli Supreme Court should issue rulings based on “enlightened opinion,” which means whatever Aharon Barak personally thinks in any given week, and that those same sitting judges should perpetually select other judges by themselves to sit on the Supreme Court and other courts, regardless of what the Israeli voter wants.

When I would slap around Barak in my postings, many people objected that I was showing disrespect to Israel’s Chief Justice, and was exaggerating his anti-democratic tendencies. And so, for years I complained about the euphemisms used by leftist journalists who couldn’t bring themselves to write the words “Islamic terrorist” when buses and Passover Seders blew up, even though that is who the perpetrators were.

They were called militants, or grieving brothers, or activists. You name it. Now it seems that the U.S. government is following suit, because fighting terror seems so politically incorrect these days. A great article from Susan M. The Jihad Sheikh with his minions at the University of Haifa

Well, things were already looking disgraceful and embarrassing enough for the University of Haifa, thanks to the approval of the heads of the university to allow the Jihad Sheikh, Raed Salah, the head of the Islamofascist movement among Israeli Moslems, to speak on campus this past week. The Jihad Sheikh there called for Arab students to become “shaheed martyrs,” code for suicide bombers. Moreover, the university had also given official instructions to the guards present to prevent Jewish students from entering the lecture hall in which the Jihad Sheikh was speaking. The Jewish student protesters present described the behavior of the guards, following university instructions, as the conducting of a “selection” (the name for the separation out of Jews done by the Germans). But then the university got itself in even deeper when it issued a statement that denied altogether that the Jewish students had been barred from entering the lecture hall or that the university officials had given any such instructions to the guards.
