Obama Linguistics: Illegal Is Not Criminal

Friends,

What’s in a word? While it is true that a “rose by any other name would smell as sweet,” as a writer, I believe that using the correct words are important. As George Orwell taught us, it is the difference between truth and lie, freedom and slavery.

And so, for years I complained about the euphemisms used by leftist journalists who couldn’t bring themselves to write the words “Islamic terrorist” when buses and Passover Seders blew up, even though that is who the perpetrators were.

They were called militants, or grieving brothers, or activists. You name it. Now it seems that the U.S. government is following suit, because fighting terror seems so politically incorrect these days. A great article from Susan M. Reyto, a lover of freedom, who survived horrific experiences in Communist Hungary. Go to the link and leave a comment. Naomi.  Read more >

Arab Invaders Of Jerusalem

Jewish wedding ceremonies – joyous occasions, are marked by sorrow over the loss of Jerusalem. The groom recites a biblical verse from the Babylonian Exile: “If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning,” and breaks a glass in commemoration of the destruction of the Temples.

Canaanite tribes were the first settlers in what was then appropriately named Canaan. In the second millennium BC, twelve Hebrew tribes, originating in Mesopotamia, settled in the land, establishing the Kingdom of Israel.

In 638 AD, Jerusalem was conquered by the Muslim Caliph Omar. In 691 AD, the Omaia Caliph Abed El-Malik built the Dome of the Rock mosque on the Temple Mount. After this theft of a holy site Muslims started claiming that it belongs to them. Jews, of course, have been hoping for centuries that the stolen property would be returned. Read more >

It is fascinating to watch Team Obama make stuff up knowing that the Media will never call them on it. Prior to Barack Hussein Obama’s speech in Egypt they posted this touching video with a totally made up history of the relationship between America and Muslims going back to the Founding Fathers. Did you know that Thomas Jefferson taught himself Arabic using his beloved Koran? Read more >

Jerusalem, Eternal Capital of the Jews

Jerusalem Wall

We have heard Caroline Glick speak. She projects passionate logic and focuses on the really big picture. The  Center for Security Policy‘s Senior Middle East Fellow gave the following extraordinary address on her acceptance of the Ingeborg Rennert Foundation’s 2009 Guardian of Zion Award in Jerusalem.

I would also like to thank some very important people who made a special trip to join me here this evening. Thank you to my parents, Sharon and Gerald Glick who came here from Chicago. Thank you to Frank Gaffney, the President of the Center for Security Policy in Washington and my dear colleague, and his wife Marisol for flying in from Washington to be here. World’s Most Costly Disasters

In a style reminiscent of the Third Reich, Obama celebrated his first 100 days in office. The media sycophants tripped over each other with accolades. The Leader graced his people with speeches and smiles. The government presses kept busy minting more money to better bind the people to Him. The alphabet networks called him the greatest president ever, the savior of the common people, just a regular guy who can eat hamburgers with the rest of us. Wow!

In the midst of all the hoopla, we received via email, without attribution, a pictorial ranking on a different scale. It is worth sharing. Below is a ranking of the world’s greatest disasters. Here too, Obama is a winner. Just click on a thumbnail to enlarge the image and read the details.

Anti-Jewish sentiment runs deep in the most unexpected places. The following study is available for download as a PDF here.

A Strange Trauma: Israeli scholars of German, the Nazis, and the “Nakba”:

The German departments at Israeli universities

Seth J. Frantzman February 22nd, 2009

Introduction: From Ramallah to Nuremburg, how Israeli intellectual thought became perverted by comparisons of Zionism to Nazi Germany

In a recent conversation with a Palestinian woman I was confronted with the question: “why do you Jews get to have the Holocaust all to yourselves, why can’t others have their own holocausts, why do Jews monopolize this term?” My response, after some thought, was to ask. “Why do the Palestinians get to have the Nakba?”

It is not surprising that the Palestinian “Nakba” is so often linked to the Jewish Holocaust. In numerous European commemorations of Holocaust Memorial Day there has been discussion of linking the two. In the Netherlands Moroccan organizations agreed to attend a memorial to the Holocaust and Dutch Integration Minister noted that “Muslims should understand that what al-Nakba is for Muslims, the Shoah is to Jews and vice-versa.” Robert Fisk, author of numerous anti-Israel articles for The independent who referred to the war in Lebanon as the “last colonial war” has termed the Armenian genocide the “first Holocaust.” During the recent Gaza war of 2008-2009 signs were printed en masse by left wing organizations in the UK demanding an end to “the Holocaust in Gaza.” So the linkage is complete. Little thought is given to the ham-handed way in which this linkage has come about or the nonsensical logic of it. Read more >

Memorial Day in Israel

History, Israel, Photos, Six Day War · By

Today is Yom Hazikaron, the day Israelis remember the fallen warriors of past wars. Tomorrow is Yom Haatzmaut, Independence Day.

Unlike North Americans, Israelis are intimately familiar with war. Being surrounded by hundreds of millions of hostile neighbors makes that inevitable. Most Israelis serve in the armed forces from the age of 18 to 21 and do up to a month of military reserve duty each year well into their forties.

Each generation of Jews has its tormentors. Each generation of Israelis has its wars. My father fought in the 1956 Sinai War. He was an experienced soldier, having been trained by the Russian army defending Stalingrad during World War II. He just missed the War of Independence, arriving in Israel in late 1948. The Six Day War of 1967 was my war.

I remember the resolve of the nation in June 1967. We knew that the enemy wanted our destruction while we only wanted to be left alone. We knew that we were honorable and good and that they were blood thirsty savages. Much of the clarity and courage eroded over time. Relentless attacks by post-Jewish, post-Zionist hordes of pseudo-intellectual academics, pontificating TV talking heads and corrupt useful idiots in the political classes have weakened the people’s resolve and undermined the military.

Way back then, we were not afraid to name the enemy. We were proud to use the biggest bombs we had. We named each military operation as we pleased and if the enemy did not like it we rubbed his face in it. In the days of empire, the British used pig skin to bury killed Jihadis, as a deterrent. Worked every time! Alas, we don’t do that anymore. We are all sophisticates now. “Infinite Justice” would have been a wonderful name for an operation to avenge the 9/11 attacks, precisely because the enemy found the name irritating. Under pressure from “our friends the Saudis,” Bush changed the name to “Enduring Freedom” and Obama to “An Overseas Contingency Operation.” Do you feel safe yet?

Here is a photo gallery commemorating the Six Day War.

If you are a venture capitalist looking to invest in the next Google when it is still no more than a couple of kids in their mother’s kitchen, this article is for you.

To 4G or not to 4G? That is the question the large wireless operators are asking themselves. It is yet unclear what fourth generation wireless technology will look like. However, there seems to be agreement that it will be capable of reaching speeds of 1 gigabyte per second. That would be fast enough to download a feature film in about six seconds. You would still need 90 minutes to view the film and you can’t watch it while you drive, leaving plenty of opportunities for music and voice content.

Little Green Footballs has a post about the paper submitted to the American Physical Society by Christopher Monckton, debunking many of the arguments advanced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Fearful of losing political and financial support, the APS hurriedly inserted this statement on the front page of its website. Read more >
