Tikkun olam is a Hebrew expression that literally means “repairing the world.” Traditionally, it meant exercising good judgment to benefit the world in the future. Paying for bodies of dead soldiers is the opposite of tikkun olam. It benefits the grieving families and helps desperate politicians cling to power.
