It’s been a mixed week for Obama, with his approval rating index in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll remaining in negative territory (30% strongly approve, 37% strongly disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of –7).
The economy is the overriding issue for most Americans, once again taking the top spot on a list of 10 important voter issues. But interest in health care has surged and is now at its highest level in nearly two years.
Opposition appears to be growing to the reform plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats: 49% of voters now at least somewhat oppose it, while 46% at least somewhat favor it. Just two weeks ago, those numbers were reversed: 50% were for the reform plan, and 45% were opposed.
