Thomas SowellJewishWorldReview | If anyone suggested that Tiger Woods should try to be more like other golfers, people would question the sanity of whoever made that suggestion.

Why should Tiger Woods try to be more like Phil Mickelson? If Tiger turned around and tried to golf left-handed, like Mickelson, he probably wouldn’t be as good as Mickelson, much less as good as he is golfing the way he does right-handed. Read more >

Thomas Sowell: The Imitators, Part II

JewishWorldReview | It must be a bitter disappointment to those in the media and in politics who have been dying to use the word “recession” that, for the second quarter in a row, there has been no downturn in the economy, though growth has been slow.

Alarmists have been reduced to quoting other alarmists on the supposedly impending recession but that is still not the real thing.

The definition of a “recession” is very clear and straightforward: Two consecutive quarters of negative growth. We have not yet had one consecutive quarter of negative growth. Read more >

Thomas Sowell: The Imitators, Part III

JewishWorldReview | Some of the people who are most adamant against outsourcing economic activity from the United States to other countries often seem to think we should outsource our foreign policy to “world opinion” or act only in conjunction “with our NATO allies.”

Like so many things that are said when it comes to public policy, there is very little attention paid to the actual track record of “world opinion” or of “our NATO allies.” Read more >

Rockets are raining on Sderot, but the ceasefire is holding? Which Third Reich school of journalism did the BBC headline writers graduated from? Check out this article?

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has begun, despite a last minute flurry of cross-border attacks.

Under the terms of the truce, Israel will ease its blockade on Gaza and talks to release an Israeli soldier held by Hamas are expected to resume.

Israeli PM, Ehud Olmert, has warned that the truce, which started at 0600 (0300 GMT), will be fragile.

At least 40 rockets and mortars were fired from Gaza at Israel on Wednesday and Israel carried out air strikes.

If you believe this, we have a bridge we’d like to sell you. The Israeli media seems to have picked up rumors from the Arab press. Unfortunately, false hopes play havoc with the emotions of the families involved.

The Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar quoted sources at the United Nations as saying that the deal with Hizbullah terrorists, negotiated by Gerhard Konrad, could be finalized as early as this week. The Lebanese As-Safir newspaper also claimed the swap could take place shortly, between June 20th and 25th.

A third Arabic newspaper, the Saudi-owned ash-Sharq il-Awsat, also reported that a deal appears imminent, saying the family of jailed Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar, serving four life sentences in an Israeli prison, has begun making preparations for his return.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is expected to meet with the families of Goldwasser and Regev by the end of this week to discuss the matter, as well as the family of missing IAF navigator Ron Arad, whose aircraft was shot down over Lebanon in 1986.

Benjamin Netanyahu Speaks at Herzeliya ConferenceIsrael’s Vice Prime Minister Chaim Ramon, currently under investigation for sexual misconduct, predicted that if free democratic elections were held today the Israeli people would elect Benjamin Netanyahu. Ramon finds this sufficient reason to prevent elections from taking place – to actively suppress the collective will of the people. His reasoning? Bibi is a power hungry fascist! Read more >
