What’s the difference between people who say ‘I like Jews best’ and those who say ‘some of my best friends are Jewish’? Not much, we suspect.
Condell’s satire is clever and we enjoy his video commentary. However, we take umbrage with Condell’s suggestion that the Middle East crisis can be solved through Israeli concessions. The Jihad is a native Islamic construct, devised to spread 7th century Bedouin civilization to every corner of the world. Arguing that ‘success’ will slow down the Jihad is prima fascia ridiculous. The Jihad is forever!
If surrendering Jerusalem will stop the Jihad, then ceding Luton, Liverpool, and a few London neighborhoods will produce instant tranquility.
Israeli withdrawals from Southern Lebanon and Gaza only whet the appetite of the beast. Giving it a juicy piece of meat, like Jerusalem, would drive it into a shark-like feeding frenzy.
Condell’s argument that Jerusalem is an Arab town is levity.
Historically, Jerusalem belongs to the Arabs less than London belongs to Italy. Jerusalem was founded by King David, a Jew. London was founded by Romans as a legion outpost (settlement). Of course, historical claims have relevance only when accompanied by credible military competence.
London is British because the British conquered it from the Romans. Jerusalem is Israeli because the Israelis captured it from the Arabs. London has a British majority, for now! Jerusalem has a Jewish majority, for now. The British have the military might to defend London against those pesky Italians. Israel is plenty capable of defending Jerusalem against the Arabs.
When Condell argues that Jerusalem is an Arab town he is full of it.
Jerusalem is Israeli for the same reason London is British and New York is American.
Israel paid for Jerusalem in blood and it can defend the town!
In summary: 1) Jerusalem is Jewish, not Arab 2) ceding Jerusalem will only lead to greater demands, and 3) if you don’t defend Jerusalem, the cradle of Judeo-Christian Civilization, why would anyone die for Luton, Detroit or Calgary?
