The future for our descendants isn’t all long life, perfect bodies and chiseled features, however.

While humans will reach their peak in 1000 years’ time, 10,000 years later our reliance on technology will have begun to dramatically change our appearance.

Medicine will weaken our immune system and we will begin to appear more child-like.

“While science and technology have the potential to create an ideal habitat for humanity over the next millennium, there is the possibility of a monumental genetic hangover over the subsequent millennium due to an over-reliance on technology reducing our natural capacity to resist disease, or our evolved ability to get along with each other.

“After that, things could get ugly, with the possible emergence of genetic ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’.”

Iran has signed a deal with China to purchase 24 J-10 fighter jets between 2008 and 2010, Russian news agency Novosti reported. The jets were developed based on the technology of Israel’s Lavi fighter jet, whose technology was sold to China against the wishes of the US.

Novosti stated that the J-10 has a range of 2,940 kilometers, bringing it within range of Israel. Iran’s current MiG-29 jets have a range of 2,100 kilometers.

Muslims argue that Jerusalem is the third holiest city in Islam and therefore they must have it. Actually, Muslims just claim any city that is claimable. Of course, Jerusalem is and always has been the holiest city for Jews and almost as holy for Christians. Yet, Bush, Condi, Olmert, Livni and Peres do not claim the city for the West. Benjamin Netanyahu talks tough for political gain. Let’s hope he means it.

Opposition leader Binyamin Netanyahu looked out over Jerusalem’s holy sites Tuesday and declared the city must forever remain united under Israeli control.

His comments, at times drowned out by the chants of a Muslim preacher, follow growing signs that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is ready to share control of Jerusalem under a final peace settlement with the Palestinians.

Netanyahu and other senior members of the Likud Party on Tuesday climbed the Tower of David, built 2,000 years ago to protect the walls of ancient Jerusalem, and then headed to the Mount of Olives, where Jews believe the dead will be resurrected in the end of days.

“Jerusalem has been the pulsating heart of the Jewish people,” Netanyahu said. “Now there are those who come and say, let’s divide this heart.”

Two years and two months after the eviction of Jews from Gaza the disengagement plan is still working exactly as we thought it would. The Jerusalem Post reports that:

Several hours after an IAF strike left a senior security official in the Hamas government dead, Palestinians fired a ninth rocket into the western Negev on Tuesday. Although no casualties were reported in the attack, the rocket hit a house in Sderot, causing several people to suffer from shock.

The latest Kassam attack came shortly before 7 p.m., with one rocket landing in a residential neighborhood in Sderot and another landing in an open field belonging to a western Negev kibbutz.

The other seven rockets landed in different areas not far from the Gaza periphery. No casualties or damage were reported in the attacks.

Benazir Bhutto, former premier and chairwoman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), said on Friday the suicidal blasts during her homecoming parade on Thursday were “an attack on democracy, and an attack on the very unity and integrity of Pakistan.”

Yesterday in Gaza, the IDF killed terrorists and the Jihadis killed each other.

Two Islamic Jihad terrorists were killed in Gaza Saturday. PA sources claim IDF naval forces killed them.

Conflicting PA claims said that one of the men was an “innocent fisherman” and that “both were lifeguards.”

Earlier Saturday, IDF soldiers spotted three terrorists approaching the security fence in northern Gaza. Troops opened fore, wounding two terrorists in Beit Lahiyah. At least one of the men was from Fatahs Al-Aksa Brigades terrorist group, under the authority of PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas.

They said they will try to kill her, if she returns to Pakistan, and they did. Most in the media thought that the Jihadis were just talking the talk. Boy, did they surprise everyone! Fortunately, Benazir Bhutto survived the attack but at least 132 others were not so lucky.

KARACHI: At least 132 people were killed and hundreds injured late on Thursday night as suspected suicide bombers targeted former prime minister Benazir Bhutto on her return from eight years in self-imposed exile.

Two explosions went off a minute apart shortly after midnight near Karsaz close to the vehicle Ms Bhutto was travelling in, at the head of a procession of hundreds of thousands of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) supporters who had flooded the streets of Karachi to welcome the return of their leader.

The attack bore the hallmarks of Al Qaeda and resembled assassination attempts by militants linked to the terrorist network on President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in recent years. Intelligence reports also warned of threats of suicide attacks against Ms Bhutto by militants linked to Al Qaeda, the home secretary said on Wednesday.

“The blasts hit two police vehicles which were escorting the truck carrying Ms Bhutto. The target was the truck,” senior Karachi police official Azhar Farooqui told Reuters.

Benazir safe: Ms Bhutto was leading the procession to Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum, where she was to give a speech. However, after the two explosions, she was rushed to the safety of Bilawal House.

“Benazir Bhutto was immediately taken to her ancestral Bilawal House after the blast,” Interior Ministry spokesman Javed Cheema told AFP. “She’s absolutely safe.” Rehman Malik, an aide to Ms Bhutto who was travelling with her on the truck, said the blasts went off while she was resting inside the vehicle.

Rescuers scrambled to drag bodies from the twisted wreckage of blazing vehicles as fires broke out at the site. “More than two dozen vehicles, including police mobile units, were completely shattered,” eyewitnesses told Daily Times.

Militant threats: Sindh IG Ziaul Hassan told Geo news late last night that militants have threatened more suicide attacks against Ms Bhutto. “There were two blasts, one on the left side and one on the right side of the procession,” Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao said. “It appears these were suicide attacks, but it is not confirmed.”

Suicide bombing: SP Raja Umer Khitab told Daily Times the first blast was a suicide attack. He said the police had recovered part of a torso wearing a suicide jacket, as well as the head and hands and feet of the suicide bomber.

According to witnesses, the bomber tried to enter the inner security cordon of PPP workers around Ms Bhutto but was stopped, and then he set off the explosion. Witnesses said the second blast originated from a golden-coloured Pajero parked on the road. Forty dead bodies were taken to the Liaquat National Hospital, 60 to the JPMC, 27 to Civil Hospital, two to AKUH and three to Zubaida Medical Centre, a death toll of 132, hospital officials told Daily Times.

Ben Kobani was murdered yesterday by Hamas terrorists east of Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip. He was part of a Golani infantry brigade conducting operations against terrorists. He was 20 years old.

The incident occurred around 9 A.M., close to the village of Abisan. The IDF force had entered the Gaza Strip several hours earlier and pushed about one kilometer into the Strip from the border fence. It faced heavy resistance. One of the units on the flanks, operating in the village’s built-up area, came under fire from Palestinian gunmen at close range. Initial debriefings at the Gaza Division headquarters yesterday suggest Kobani was killed by a single bullet that struck him in the shoulder, even though he was wearing a bullet-resistant vest. Kobani died en route to Soroka Medical Center, Be’er Sheva.

During the exchanges of fire, the Golani unit managed to kill one of the Hamas gunmen.

During a separate incident in the same area, IDF soldiers hit a group of Hamas gunmen who had fired an anti-tank missile at them. There were no casualties to the IDF force.

Around noon, an IDF attack helicopter fired missiles at a group of gunmen, wounding some of them. Palestinian sources said 10 were injured, mostly members of Islamic Jihad.

He began his military career with a stint in the military prison. When he was inducted, he demanded to be assigned to the tough Golani Brigade. The clerks wanted to assign him to a softer job. He refused. He obstinately disobeyed the order to go with the others not assigned to Golani. The Israeli Left will not be honoring Kobani’s willingness to do jail time to win a spot on the front lines. They encourage soldiers to refuse military service. They cheer when leftists go to jail rather than serve in the Israeli Defense Forces. They seek to create enough mutiny so that Israel will have no choice but to capitulate.

Navy SEAL (Sea, Air, Land) Lt. Michael P. Murphy, 29, from Patchogue, NY. Murphy was killed by enemy forces during a reconnaissance mission, Operation Redwing, June 28, 2005. Murphy lead a four-man team tasked with finding a key Taliban leader in the mountainous terrain near Asadabad, Afghanistan, when they came under fire from a much larger enemy force with superior tactical position. Mortally wounded while exposing himself to enemy fire, Murphy knowingly left his position of cover to get a clear signal in order to communicate with his headquarters. While being shot at repeatedly, Murphy calmly provided his unit’s location and requested immediate support for his element. He returned to his cover position to continue the fight until finally succumbing to his wounds.

We watched Sheppard Smith express shock at Bush’s sinking support. He must have ignored the teleprompter script when he chimed in with his own opinion that “only the extreme right, the fundamentalist base, is still loyal to Bush”. Proving, once again, that Smith is the male equivalent of a “dumb blond” on Fox News. The only people still supporting Bush are a few milquetoast “moderates”.

Bush has been a weak leader, at times confused and uninspiring, an MBA with poor management skills, a poor judge of character and talent, and a left of center moderate. Nevertheless, the thought of the alternatives, Algore and Jean Kerry, makes us shudder. Predictably, voters are even less satisfied with Congress.

The Reuters/Zogby Index, which measures the mood of the country, also fell from 98.8 to 96 — the second consecutive month it has dropped. The number of Americans who believe the country is on the wrong track jumped four points to 66 percent.

Bush’s job approval rating fell to 24 percent from last month’s record low for a Zogby poll of 29 percent. A paltry 11 percent gave Congress a positive grade, tying last month’s record low.

The national telephone survey of 991 likely voters, conducted October 10 through October 14, found barely one-quarter of Americans, or 26 percent, believe the country is headed in the right direction.

The poll found declining confidence in U.S. economic and foreign policy. About 18 percent gave positive marks to foreign policy, down from 24 percent, and 26 percent rated economic policy positively, down from 30 percent.

A majority of Americans still rate their personal financial situation as excellent or good, although the number dipped slightly this month to 54 percent from 56 percent. In August, 59 percent rated their finances as excellent or good.
