Thought Muslims don’t do Jihad during the “holy” month of Ramadan? Think again!
A varied series of attacks by Palestinian Authority terrorists late in the day on Sunday led to light injuries and caused extensive damage. The Sunday incidents continued a recent upswing in the number of attacks by PA militias and their affiliates.
Alert IDF soldiers stationed near the entrance to Shavei Shomron, a Jewish town in Samaria, managed to thwart an attempted terrorist attack on Sunday night. The soldiers noticed an armed individual near the community’s perimeter fence and called on him to stop. In response, the PA terrorist opened fire on the IDF troops, who returned fire. The would-be infiltrator managed to escape and security services initiated a search of the area. No injuries were reported in the incident.
In another Sunday night incident, two Israeli motorists were lightly injured when their vehicle overturned after hitting an obstruction deliberately placed in their path. The cause of the accident, a line of rocks laid across the road, was apparently the work of Arabs from the area of the PA village of Marda, near the city of Ariel. In a separate incident, shortly after the Israeli car slammed into the rock barricade, PA terrorists threw firebombs at a bus in the same area. No injuries were reported in the latter attack.Earlier in the evening, PA terrorists in Gaza launched a rocket that landed north of Sderot, in the western Negev region. They also fired a mortar shell that exploded near the Negev kibbutz community of Nahal Oz. A third rocket was fired at Sderot later on Sunday night. There were no reports of casualties or damage in the three attacks.
Residents of the Jewish town of Itzhar, near Shechem, said Sunday that Arab arsonists set a fire that caused tens of thousands of shekels worth of damage. The fire began early on Sunday afternoon, they said, and spread quickly due to strong winds. One empty caravan was completely destroyed in the fire, and the town’s infrastructure, including water pipes and electric lines, was damaged. A vineyard was burnt as well, but the owner had harvested his grapes just days earlier. Residents said that Arabs from neighboring villages have set four fires near Jewish homes in Itzhar over the past few months.
