Former Presidential Candidate John Edwards has a brilliant idea. If he is elected President he will share intelligence with the terrorists, provided they join a “Counterterrorism and Intelligence Treaty Organization”, whatever that is, and promise to be nice. Edwards famously said that the “war on terrorism” is but a “bumper sticker slogan”. To his sick mind an imaginary “treaty” will fix the “bumper sticker” problem.
Senator Edwards will tell an audience in Lower Manhattan this morning that if he’s elected president he’ll create a new “Counterterrorism and Intelligence Treaty Organization,” that will coordinate efforts to shutdown terrorism with countries all over the world.
The proposal, which will be made at Pace University, just blocks from the site of the 2001 World Trade Centers attacks, is being billed as the centerpiece of Mr. Edwards’ new counterterrorism policy.
According to select excerpts of the speech released by his campaign this morning, the treaty organization will allow members to voluntarily share financial, police, customs, and immigration intelligence.
In an attempt to preempt critics who might say the idea of sharing such data with other nations could place American intelligence in the wrong hands he will tell the audience that the nations who join will be “required to commit to tough criteria about the steps they will take to root out extremists, particularly those who cross borders.”
