In Bankrupt: The Intellectual and Moral Bankruptcy of Today’s Democratic Party, author David Limbaugh exposes some of America’s loony leftists who would sacrifice all to regain power.
Here is Jeffrey Leach‘s excellent review of the book.
“The oldest continuous political party in the world is bankrupt,” writes author David Limbaugh in a book entitled, not surprisingly, “Bankrupt: The Intellectual and Moral Bankruptcy of Today’s Democratic Party”. It’s hard to disagree with his statement. I mean, look at the fools capering around with a ‘D’ after their name. Ted Kennedy? Bill and Hillary Clinton? Howard Dean? Chuck Schumer? Al “The Sky Is Falling!” Gore? C’mon, man! Who can look at that rogue’s gallery and NOT see red flags popping up all over the place? Look at the cover of the book. This is a group of folks you’d expect to see in one of those crime family flow charts. This isn’t a political party; it’s an assortment of losers espousing crackpot ideas that should have no place in the public sphere. At the very least, any decent thinking person ought to laugh their ideas right off the stage. The global warming crowd, the 9/11 conspiracy kooks, the religion haters, the neo-paternalist race baiters, and a host of other tin foil hat wearing creeps cling to the Democratic Party like lice to a gorilla’s scalp. It’s embarrassing to live in a country where people like this expect others to take them seriously.
Limbaugh, the brother of radio personality Rush, details the depths of bankruptcy on every page of this book. Where to start? Oh, yeah–George Bush is the spawn of Satan. That’s it in a nutshell, really. The modern Democratic Party spends nearly all of its time and energy trying to derail the career of a president they consider a war criminal, a fascist, a liar, and a shill for corporate America. It’s all here in the opening chapters of the book. The infamous “sixteen words” Bush spoke about Iraq seeking nuclear fuel in Africa. Then there’s the imbroglio over weapons of mass destruction, or lack thereof, in Iraq. And don’t forget the TWO stolen elections. The first came in 2000 when Gore contested the Florida election. The second came four years later when Ohio decided not to support John Kerry’s presidential bid. More than fifty million other Americans looked at John Kerry, laughed heartily, and voted against him, but the Democrats know in their hearts that the evil Bush and the even more evil Karl Rove stole that election. Right. And then they threw all the democrats into prison. Oh, wait. That didn’t happen.
The rest of the book discusses democrat “values” and the problems they have with Bush’s colleagues. Anyone with a half a brain knows the only values held by the Democratic Party are the lack of values. They promote the perverse as normal, scoff at the religious, and undermine the judiciary with the laughable conception of a “living” Constitution. It’s all aimed at destroying America by undermining her institutions. But what’s even worse, as Limbaugh shows, is that the movers and shakers in the party are out on the campaign trail trying to convince Middle America that they have values. Then he moves on to the hit jobs the democrats have been pulling on Bush’s inner circle. Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Rove, and others have all taken numerous cheap shots from the democrats, except when the crybabies had to seek professional counseling after Bush won the 2004 election. We’re seeing the fruits of their labors now as cooked up scandals about Walter Reed and the obnoxious Valerie Plame fuel the fires of the long hoped for impeachment. Too bad someone forgot to tell these dolts that Bush leaves office in January 2009, and he’ll leave with a record far better than Bill Clinton’s.
As the reader moves through the book, one overriding theme becomes glaringly apparent: the Democrats have politicized every aspect of life. They’ve turned the Iraq War into a political circus. They’ve crafted name-calling, race-baiting, and class warfare into a weapon of mass destruction that they subsequently unleashed on the entire country. Gone are the days when democrats actually proposed ideas. Ideas are boring and, quite frankly, everyone in the world knows these losers haven’t had a new idea in years (let alone one that actually works). What does one do when they don’t have policy proposals? Resort to the sort of screeching, vitriolic diatribes we hear on the news and read in the opinion pieces in the newspapers. After reading this book, it’s obvious that the level of hate emanating from the mouths of the left elites corresponds roughly to the absence of ideas. As their old, tired ideologies succumb to failure after failure, they get louder and louder. Instead of dealing with issues such as the looming insolvency of entitlement programs, for example, the democrats just want to blame everything on George Bush. That’s how they’ll get back power, and it partially worked in November 2006.
Whether the politics of division will succeed in the future is up for debate. It wouldn’t if more people read this book. Limbaugh does a fine job of showing the utter vacuity of the Democratic Party. He’s weaker when it comes to pointing out Bush’s real flaw. It has nothing to do with the war or the economy and everything to do with illegal immigration. President Bush thinks it’s acceptable to leave the borders wide open. So do the democrats. If the immigration problem continues to spiral out of control, we’re going to have far more difficulties than arguing about some war or what value system the nation needs. We simply won’t have a country left. On this issue, I’d say the Republican Party has a bankruptcy problem of its own that they should deal with before the next presidential election. Immigration aside, I’d say David Limbaugh’s book is a good addition to the bookshelf. It’s well argued, nicely researched, and fun to read to boot.
Take heart Jeffrey! As embarrassing as the Democrats are, they are but amateurs compared to the Israeli leadership. If the Dems rate 9 of 10 on the stupidity scale, then the trio of Peres, Olmert, and Barak score at least 11. The Israeli trio would throw their entire family off the cliff before jumping themselves. Hillary, Hussein, and Biden would almost certainly throw everyone else’s families off first … then retire.
Nothing illuminates the cowardly inner soul of the Israeli appeasers more than the statement of strategy appearing today in Haaretz (the Palestinian propaganda sheet published in Hebrew and English). Written by Ehud Barak’s senior advisor on Palestinian affairs the article proposes a strategy of no roadblocks and no preventive action.
If this signals the start of an official policy, then let it continue. It indicates that the security establishment is beginning to realize its important role in shaping Palestinian public opinion. Israel should formulate a strategic policy to plan its security and diplomacy beyond the number of roadblocks or the length of the separation fence. A change in the everyday routine of West Bank residents will enable them to renew their faith in the seriousness of Israel’s intentions, and above all, in the Ramallah government. Assuming that this is the start of a policy, which is being led by the defense minister and the chief of staff, then this fall’s regional conference may be a step on the way to resolving the conflict.
The diplomatic process’ success depends on leadership and broad public support. However, Palestinians will not vote for a regime that cannot give them a modicum of civil dignity and human rights, as expressed through law, order and freedom of movement.
Moreover, the isolated illegal outposts must be evacuated. This cannot be a goodwill gesture toward the Palestinians or the keeping of a promise to the United States, but rather a measure to show the Israeli public its leaders’ reliability and determination to bring peace. Nationalist violence and the trampling of the law must not be fought only due to some diplomatic plan. Immediately evacuating all the outposts will let the government testify to its people that it is serious about its intentions to maintain the rule of law and its commitment to the two-state vision.
In contrast with the recent past, the major security threat emanating from the West Bank is no longer the infiltration of suicide bombers into Israel, but rather the firing of rockets and missiles at city centers. The Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet security service must adjust their activities accordingly, and therefore “preventive action” can no longer be a major part of their work. Up until the second intifada, the security forces were very good at altering and interfering with the enemy’s intentions, and influencing the opinions of leaders and civilians while carrying out very few assassinations. The current policy of preventive action is a demonstration of excess force, while forgoing essential contact with the neighboring populations. This policy must be stopped, except in special cases.
So let’s see, the role of the IDF is to shape Palestinian public opinion. Peace will come when the Israeli leadership demonstrates its willingness to appease more generously. The Jew hating savages, who every day vigorously pursue the murder of innocent men, women, and children, will, hopefully, accept a sincere apology from the Israeli Government. Establishing free Jew killing zones by removing checkpoints and other preventive measures will thrill the beasts to no end. There will be peace at last.
As George Orwell said “The quickest way to end a war is to surrender.”
