Well, the ultras of the Far Left were unsuccessful in trying to get Norman Finkelstein tenured on the basis of his Neo-Nazi attacks on Jews, misrepresented as “scholarship.”
The next battleground is Ward Churchill; he is due to be canned by the regents at the University of Colorado this coming week (July 24, 2007). Churchill is the clown who saluted bin Laden for attacking the “Little Eichmanns” in the WTC towers. He is a pretend Indian who also has a long track record for Antisemitism.
So naturally the Left adore him. The Academic Ultra Left is once again detecting “scholarship” in lunatic ravings of one of their own.
It is interesting to see which “academics” are now whoring for Churchill and trying to prevent him being fired. Many of them can be viewed at the Ward Churchill Solidarity Network.
They include the Israel-bashing Middle East Studies “scholar”, Richard Falk, Derrick Bell (NYU Law Professor of Marxism), the son of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg (a college teacher who really appreciates treason – runs in his family), Gary Leupp – Professor of History at Tufts University, and Adjunct Professor of Comparative Religion, and of course Peter Kirstein, the anti-Semitic comrade of Holocaust Denier David Irving, from St Xavier’s in Chicago (Kirstein led the campaign of support for Finkelstein).

Everything that ails Western Civilization was on display in Johannesburg, South Africa, where a group of hard core communists, mummified socialists, the greatest thief in history, an egomaniacal billionaire, and an entertainment celebrity, announced that they have formed a council of elders to run the world.
“The Elders can become a fiercely independent and robust force for good, tackling conflicts and intractable issues, especially those that are not popular,” said Mr Mandela.
The group will “speak freely and boldly, working both publicly and behind the scenes, working wherever our help is needed”.
So, pray tell, who are these wise men?
There will eventually be 12 Global Elders – but the exact make-up of the group was in flux right up until yesterday’s announcement.
As well as Mr Mandela and his wife, Graca Machel, the group comprises Desmond Tutu, the Anglican Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town; Jimmy Carter, the former American president; Mary Robinson, the former Irish president; Kofi Annan, the former secretary general of the United Nations; and Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel laureate economist and founder of the Green Bank in Bangladesh, where he is known as “banker to the poor”. All were at the launch in Johannesburg yesterday.
Li Zhaoxing, until two months ago the foreign minister of China, has also been invited to join, along with Ela Bhatt, the Indian activist and founder of a women’s association. Gro Harlen Bruntland, formerly prime minister of Norway and director of the World Health Organization, may also become a member.
An empty chair was set on stage yesterday and will be reserved at all Elders meetings for the Burmese opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who is now the prisoner of the military junta despite her victory in a democratic election in 1990.

Rod Dreher, has an excellent column about Muslim Brotherhood offshoots in the USA. CAIR uses the term ‘Islamophobia’ as a weapon to silence people who merely observe that Muslim terrorists are blowing up stuff. Clearly, not all Muslims blow up, but enough do to make infidels fearful (phobic) of Muslims. By analogy he explains that not all snakes are poisonous, but enough are, to make most people fearful of all snakes. Not all bees sting, but enough do, to make many people bee-phobic.
According to witnesses, what did one of the Glasgow would-be terror bombers scream as he emerged out of his burning SUV?
(a) “Freebird! Freebird!”
(b) “Allah! Allah!”
(c) “How dare you ask such an Islamophobic question?!”
The correct answer is, of course, (b), as the accused terrorists fancied themselves holy warriors. But as far as the Muslim victim lobby and its media fellow travelers are concerned, the answer is now and ever shall be (c). In their self-pitying view, only bigots notice such things.
“To see what is in front of one’s nose needs a constant struggle,” said George Orwell. Six years after 9/11, it is obvious that we aren’t struggling hard enough.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization founded by Hamas to masquerade as a civil rights group, is whining again. Let us summarize. Bush promotes Islamophobia; the US has entered a war with Islam; terrorism can not be defeated; terrorism can not defeat the USA, it is but a minor nuisance; the chance of being killed by a terrorist is a minuscule 1 in 80,000; Bush has driven a wedge between Muslims and non-Muslims in America; the Administration is fear-mongering, but there is nothing to fear; America is mired in stereotypical denouncements of Islam; blah, blah, blah.
The bottom line? Don’t believe your lying eyes. Just because you see Muslims blowing up things and killing Infidels, does not absolve your ‘irrational’ fear of Muslims blowing up things. Read all about Parvez Ahmed’s seething at: CAIR blames White House for boosting ‘Islamophobia’.
A Muslim civil rights group yesterday blamed the Bush administration for promoting “Islamophobia” and said the “war on terror” won’t stop terrorists.
“The new perception is that the United States has entered a war with Islam itself,” said Parvez Ahmed, chairman of the national board of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Here are two stories that illustrate how two peoples living side by side can still be poles apart.
Farfour, the Hamas mouse, is dead. Long live Nahool, the Hamas bee. Nahool wants you to know that Jew killing is still in vogue despite the brutal killing of his cousin Farfour by an Israeli agent.
Meantime back in Israel scientists are treating cancer using viruses.
Researchers from the Hebrew University have succeeded in isolating a variant of the Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV-HUJ), which usually affects birds, in order to specifically target cancer cells. The research, which has already cleared the first phase of clinical trials, is already patented and if all goes well it might receive an approval for clinical use, changing the way we think about viruses forever. Culture, Dhimmitude, Immigration, Sweden · By Mordecai

No matter how much the AFP reporter tries to disguise it as an employment and integration issue, Sweden has a big problem. Even though refugees entering the country receive full welfare benefits immediately on arrival, the Swedes blame themselves for the high levels of juvenile delinquency among the Muslim youths. The title of the AFP article is intentionally deceptive: Sweden struggles to integrate Muslim immigrants.
Sweden has welcomed immigrants with open arms for decades but now it is grappling with how to integrate them into society, especially in the southern town of Malmoe amid a massive influx of refugees.
Once a thriving industrial town with full employment, Malmoe has seen many of its plants shut down since the 1990s. That, combined with a never-ending stream of foreigners arriving, has led to rising juvenile delinquency and rampant unemployment.
Of the town’s 280,000 inhabitants, a third are foreigners and 60,000 are Muslims.

Apparently 9/11, 7/7, and other such events ‘distorted’ Western perceptions of Jihad. A good Jihad is a war declared by the right religious authorities against legitimate enemies at the right time. A bad Jihad has one of the ingredients missing. It is either declared by the ‘wrong’ authorities or against the wrong enemy or at the wrong time.
A bad Jihad is evidently called ‘Hiraba’ and the Muslims who wage it are called Mufsidoon. What is that? Walid Phares explains the Jihadists’ new takiyya (deceit) strategy in: Preventing the West from Understanding Jihad.
The good holy war is when the right religious and political authorities declare it against the correct enemy and at the right time. The bad jihad, called also Hiraba, is the wrong war, declared by bad (and irresponsible) people against the wrong enemy (for the moment), and without an appropriate authorization by the “real” Muslim leadership. According to this thesis, those Muslims who wage a Hiraba, a wrong war, are called Mufsidoon, from the Arabic word for “spoilers.” The advocates of this ruse recommend that the United States and its allies stop calling the Jihadists by that name and identifying the concept of Jihadism as the problem. In short, they argue that “jihad is good, but the Mufsidoon, the bad guys and the terrorists, spoiled the original legitimate sense.”
When researched, it turns out that this theory was produced by clerics of the Wahhabi regime in Saudi Arabia and the Muslim Brotherhood, as a plan to prevent jihad and Jihadism from being depicted by the West and the international community as an illegal and therefore sanctioned activity. It was then forwarded to American- and Western-based interest groups to be spread within the Untied States, particularly within the defense and security apparatus. Such a deception further confuses U.S. national security perception of the enemy and plunges democracies back into the “black hole” of the 1990′s. This last attempt to blur the vision of democracies can be exposed with knowledge of the Jihadi terror strategies and tactics, one of which is known as Taqiya, the doctrine on deception and deflection.

Let’s say that you are the Police Chief and you have a criminal gang controlling the action in your jurisdiction. The gang is extremely effective. It is run by one particularly vicious thug who suppresses opposition by randomly murdering opponents and civilians alike. Eventually a rival gang does emerge and survives by nominally accepting the undisputed leadership of the vicious thug. With time the rival gang grows and the thug dies of a mysterious disease, say AIDS. A violent turf war erupts. The new gang grabs the western territories. The old gang is seriously weakened.
As Police Chief, would you see this as an opportunity to arm and finance the old gang so it can withstand the onslaught of the new gang? Or would you use this moment to wipe them both out? Here is what Police Chief Bush decided to do: Bush pledges Middle East summit.
Striving once again to take a leading role in the long standoff, the president pledged $190 million in U.S. aid to the Palestinian government of President Mahmoud Abbas, who last month expelled Hamas Islamists from his national security council after the militant group seized the Gaza Strip.
Update: In Front Page Magazine, Steve Feldman, wonders whether Bush has lost his moral compass. Check it out at Supporting the Right Terrorists.

President Bush gave another speech about the Middle East yesterday. Once again demonstrating why he has been singularly unsuccessful at motivating the country to support the war effort. In his speech he assured Israel that it would improve its security situation by re-deploying troops out of Judea. On the other hand he is telling the Demoncrats that the USA can not gain security by redeploying out of Iraq. If withdrawal from the West bank is such a great idea then withdrawal from Iraq will bring about world peace.
Bush seems to be stuck in the same quicksand that held Clinton during his last year in Office – Middle East peace making. Bush is now pushing the State Department’s view that Israel is not giving enough incentives to the “moderate” terrorists who want to destroy it. The President is a decent man, but he is a mediocre manager (remember Harriet Miers) and terrible leader (29% approval ratings).
Will Bush’s legacy be the break up of Biblical Israel? It would appear so. In his speech he called on Israel to make several immediate concessions. US Pres. Pushes for Another Arab State Alongside Israel.
