Cal Thomas refuses to be intimidated by Hamas, the gang that in the USA masquerades as the Council on America-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Asked if he will be silenced by the Islamists, he responded: “I’ll keep saying it until they blow me up.” Cal is always so calm and articulate we didn’t think of him as a warrior. Unlike Michael Savage, Cal Thomas is part of the media establishment and a Washington insider. What is all the kurfuffle about?
Let’s start at the beginning. On Monday, July 2, 2007 as part of WTOP Radio‘s commentary & analysis, Cal discussed the Islamist attacks in Britain. In the segment ‘Terrorism Questions Need Answers‘ he repeated a frequently used cancer analogy.
“How much longer should we allow people from certain lands with certain beliefs to come to Britain and America and build Mosques, preach hate, and plot to kill us? Would anyone tolerate a slow spreading cancer because it is not fast spreading? Probably not; you would want it removed.”
“Each time something like this happens President Bush apparently feels the need to take off his shoes and go to an Islamic Center, where he, frankly, grovels. If I was plotting America’s destruction I would see this as weakness”
CAIR’s blood pressure shot way up and a few heads exploded (oops). By Tuesday the predictable emails materialized. The target was WTOP News Radio, where Cal works as a token Conservative. They demand an apology, a retraction, or Cal’s head (oops, again). While President Bush was out shopping for a Saudi prayer rug and his spokesman asked did not understand what all the fuss was about?
On Wednesday, July 4, 2007 Breitbart.tv’s Scott Baker talked to Cal about the controversy whipped up by CAIR with assistance from the drive-by media.
“It is a brilliant strategy. There is no invading army. They are sending out people in various garbs, be they doctors or some other callings, and they are penetrating [and] infiltrating with the idea of subjugating Western Culture. That clearly is their plan. And the new Prime Minister of Great Britain, Gordon Brown, can say we are not going to call them Islamic Terrorists, we are not even going to call them Terrorists anymore. Fine, you don’t have to call them anything. You can call them everything. That’s not going to change their objective.”
“Their objective is to destabilize Western Culture, be it in France or Germany, the United Kingdom or the United States, and to bring us to our knees. They say that! They preach that! If you want to look at hate and bigotry, go and look at any of the Web pages that show the sermons that come from most of the mosques in the Middle East. Look at the Arab and Palestinian media.”
“… and does anybody really believe that if they get their hands on nuclear or biological or chemical weapons they won’t detonate them? That’s what their objective is. It is just a fact. They say so. Now, it does not take many [Islamists]. People say, well, only 10% maybe of the worlds Muslims are Jihadists. Fine, 10% of a billion is 100 million. That’s a lot of people.”
