Rush Limbaugh has been arguing for some time that the Goracle and his acolytes care nothing about the environment. What they care about is more government and preferably more world government. They won’t stop until we all accept the European Union’s specifications for length and circumference of a cucumber.
Rush, of course, is right.
Stopping “climate change” (ha,ha,ha,ha,ha …) justifies every idiocy the Progressives can dream up.
Did Einstein really say that? From The Straight Dope (thanks to Greg): why are the bees disappearing?
Dear Straight Dope:
What in blazes is going on with the world’s bees? I keep reading all these stories about how a significant percentage of the world’s beehives are failing and that all the bees are dying. No one seems to know why, but there are explanations aplenty, ranging from global warming to mites to, of all things, cell phones! What’s worse, some of these stories quote Albert Einstein’s predictions that if the world’s bees were ever to die off, owing to the lack of pollinators, humanity would follow about four years later. Is there anything we can do about this? If the bees all die, are there any substitute pollinators we can use? Or is Einstein right and we’re all doomed? Rich Swank, Orlando, FL.
First they came for the cows. From the Daily Mail: The secret plan to make us all vegetarians.
Secret plans to encourage the nation to give up eating meat are being examined by the government. A leaked e-mail expresses sympathy for the environmental benefits of a mass switch to a vegan diet – a strict form of vegetarianism which bans milk, dairy products and fish. The change would need to be done “gently” because of a “risk of alienating the public”, according to the document the extreme policy is being examined on the basis it could make a major contribution to slowing climate change.
Then they came for our home offices. Working from Home May Produce More CO2 than Going to Work.
Working from home is not without its hardships and difficulties; the bench on the dock has very poor lumbar support, and it is a long way to the fridge to refill the wine glass. On the other hand we feel virtuous knowing that we are saving many tons of CO2 by not commuting to the energy hog of an office.
Or maybe not. A recent study by WSP Environmental suggests that while home workers can save carbon emissions by not commuting, the extra heating and power they use during the winter months can outweigh the benefits.
Then they came for us (and we had no beef to eat). Some Progressives are already suggesting that there are too many people on the planet. To avoid “climate change” (ha, ha. ha, ha, ha … ) we must have less people.
